Pledge to Purity

Living in a world where sexual promiscuity is all around us may cause us to think that unrestrained sexual activity is acceptable to God, but it is not. God loves you very much. He created you special and wonderful. If you are born-again, your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. God wants you to honor Him by honoring your body and keeping it pure. Sexual activity outside of the safe confines of marriage is dangerous and just plain wrong. It is possible to take the high road, to go against the grain, to live a radical, awesome life of self-control and purity. Many teens and young adults just like you have chosen to honor themselves, and to honor God with purity. Will you do the same?

But anyone who is joined to the Lord is one in spirit with him. Don't be immoral in matters of sex. That is a sin against your own body in a way that no other sin is. You surely know that your body is a temple where the Holy Spirit lives. The Spirit is in you and is a gift from God. You are no longer your own. God paid a great price for you. So use your body to honor God.
(1 Corinthians 6:17-20 CEV)

A pledge is a promise. In this pledge, you will be making a promise to God, to yourself and to your parents that you will:

1. Abstain from all sexual practices until you are married from this day forward.

2. To dress modestly so as not to cause someone to lust. Dressing modestly does not mean you have to wear outdated or frumpy clothing. It is very possible to dress stylish and attractive without showing off what should be covered.

3. Abstain from media with sexual content. Protect you heart by protecting your eyes and your ears.

4. Make an effort to guard your mind against impure thoughts.

5. Seek God for the mate that He has planned for you. God has the perfect man or woman for you. Trust him to bring him/her at the right time in your life.

Perhaps you have already engaged in sexual activity. Don't listen to the lies of Satan that would say it is too late for you to walk in purity. God forgives and he cleanses from all unrighteousness if we will repent.

To repent means to change our mind and our actions. Ask God to forgive you, forgive yourself and pledge purity from this day on. When God looks at you, you will look no different than the person that has been involved in no sexual activity!

Prayer: Father, forgive me of all my sins, cleanse me from all unrighteousness. Today, I commit myself fresh and new to you, body, soul and spirit. Lord, I pledge my love and my devotion to you forever. I also pledge to you to abstain from sexual practices until the day I enter into a marital covenant with the person you have chosen to be by life's mate. Lord please help me in my walk of purity. Thank you Lord. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen

To help you in your commitment, choose a ring to wear on your left hand as a symbol of your commitment to God and to purity.

May God Bless you as you seek to please Him!
