Being different From people of this world

I. Introduction:

When we became born-again, or we accept Jesus as our Lord we became different:

• We are no longer a citizen of this world but now are a citizen of heaven.
• We are still in the world but we are not a part of this world anymore.
• We are like strangers to this world.
• We are a part of the kingdom of heaven right here on the earth.
• We are to make a difference in this world. God said we should be light that shines the way to Him for people that don't know Him and he also said we are to be like salt, which is a preservative.
• We are to be like a preservative (salt) to this world and keep the rot out of it. The rot is corruption caused by sin.
• We are to be like a light, that points the way to Jesus
• As a Christian we are not suppose to be like the people who do not know God, who do many evil things.
  They don't care about the things that Gods cares about. But we are to care about what God cares about and seek to please Him if we belong to Him.
• There is much evil in the world but we not not to be a part of that evil. We must be careful not to be polluted by this world.
• We must choose to do what is right in Gods eyes

II. Things that pollute us.

How do you think we get polluted by the world?

• Watching bad things on TV.
• Playing bad video games with violence or bad language or other bad things in them.
• Listening to music that sings about wicked things,
• Spending time with people that are a bad influence on us.
• Magazines that have bad things in them.

III. What are some ways we can be different from those who do not know God?

Obey Gods commands:

• Love God with all your heart- what do you think the bible mean love God with all your mind heart and soul?
• Love your neighbor as yourself- who is our neighbor? How can we show love? Give me some example of what love is not.
• Shall not steal
• Shall not kill
• Shall not commit adultery.
• Covet your neighbors stuff: don't try to make your neighbors jealous.
• Take Gods name in vain: it is a sin also to listen to other take our Gods name in vain.
• Worship another God - some people worship things, money, cars, rock stars, people, ourselves.
• Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy - Sunday is most Christians day to worship God and rest.
• Honor thy father and mother.

How can we show our mother and father honor?

• Obedience
• Respect, don't talk back, proper attitude
• Be helpful

IV. Conclusion

How do you think we can know what God expects of us?

• Gods word
• prayer: God changes us and reveals himself to us
• worship
• Bible lessons
• Holy Spirit

We should also be a witness of Gods love and power with our actions and with our mouth by testimony.

1.) By our mouth: tell others what God has done for us and how they can also come to know God

2.) Our life: live out a testimony of Gods love and power, let our life be a light that shines for Jesus.

Alter Time: (Always give kids an opportunity to make some kind of response of commitment to the message for the day. Always give kids a chance to be saved and receive prayer for other needs. Always give God room to move. Do this in the way God leads you. Expect Miracles!)
