WHOSE PLAN FOR YOUR LIFE WILL YOU FOLLOW?

Sermon Notes

I. Satan is real just like God is real. The Bible warns us over and over of satan and his tactics and his devices and his plans to destroy us.

2 corin 2:10 Now whom you forgive anything, I also forgive. For if indeed I have forgiven anything, I have forgiven* that one for your sakes in the presence of Christ, 11 lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.

John 10:10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

Jeremiah 29:11 for I know the thoughts I think toward you say the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil to give you a future and a hope.

God loves us so much and has a plan for your life. He wants to give us a good life, but we must follow his path to this goo life.

Satans also has a plan for your life. His plans are always for our destruction. He wants our soul most but if he cant have that he wants your destiny. He wants to destroy your life on this earth. He wants you to follow him all the way to hell where he can have you eternally and keep God from having you because you are Gods special creation.

II. Satan has no power over us if we are born again!!

John 8:36 so if the son makes you free, you will be free indeed. (If you have been saved you have been made free, but we have to walk in that freedom and we have to resist satan)

* God gave everyone a free will.
* He gave you eternal life (you chose to make Jesus your Lord)
* He gave you power through the holy spirit
* He gave you authority through the use of His name.
Luke 10:19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

We must remember that satan is our enemy.
We are in a war.
Ignoring him will not make him go away.
Denying he exists only play into his hands.
But we are not to fear satan nor his demons, God has given us power and authority and every weapon we need to win against him.

III. Satans devices

Since he cannot destroy the christian he tries to get us to destroy ourselves.

He is our tempter. He uses lies and deceptions and targets our carnal nature, our own lusts and desires to lure us into sin. He knows sin will destroy us.

He work through other people- We must be on our guard and we must be careful who we associate with so others will not causse us to stumble.

.IV. How do we win against our enemy our enemy: James 4:7 Therefore submit your selves to God and resist the devil and he will flee from you.

A. Submit ourselves to God
* Study Gods word.. Read the bible and also attend bible studies often. It is God love letters to us. In it he gives us all we need to know on how to defeat our enemy and how to find God plan for our life.
* Pray..Jesus had to pray and so do we. That is how we get information from God and obtain his help.
*Worship- Develope a love relationship with God. Keep you fire and your passion for God buring hot and you will for sure not fall into satans traps.
*fellowship with other christians. We gain strength from each other.

B. Resist the devil

*Make ourselves knowledgable. The bible says gods people perish because they don't have the knowledge they need to survive. We must study Gods word and learn. Can you image if the united states in a war failed to learn of our enemy. If they went into a battle knowing nothing about their enemy what would happen? You are in a war and every day you face many battles, do you know your enemy?? Do you know how he operates?

*Guard your mind. The mind is the devils battle ground: If he can get you to think about evil things, he can eventually get you to do it.
Sin is birthed in the mind. Stop it there and it will go no further.
The bible says we are to take every thought captive to the obedince of Christ. In other words it matters what you think about.
Satan will put evil thoughts into your mind, you must resist those thoughts.
It is not a sin if a bad thought enters our mind but it is a sin if you continue to think on evil things.

James 1:12 Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.
2. 13 Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. 14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. 15 Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death. 16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. 17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. 18 Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures.

The bible instructs us to think on things that are good. Ask for Gods help and fill your mind with things that are good.

* Avoid evil going into your eyes and ears. This is another tactic of satan to lure you into his plan for your life. What goes into you determines who you become, and will be the result of what comes out of you. It will control your destiny. Let satan feed you wickedness and he will have your future.

*Choose what is right in the sight of God. Don't sin. Make right choices
*Avoid situations that will bring you temptation.
* Be a good judge of character. Surround yourself with people that life you up rather than tearing you down. Choose Godly friends.
*Be quick to repent if you do sin. God loves you and will forgive and cleanse you if you just ask him to. He waits to restore you.
